Problem
I own over 1,000 Magic: The Gathering cards. I could just dig through my binder when I want to go through my collection, but it's much more convenient to have a spreadsheet where I can sort them by color, rarity, condition, etc. Because I used conditional formatting, it's easy for me to find valuable items without having to hunt through every row.
Process
- I built one main sheet with dropdown menus for color, rarity, condition, and card type.
- I set conditional formatting so foil cards and anything worth $10+ stands out.
- I also made an overview page using SUMIF and COUNTIF formulas. When I add a new card to the spreadsheet, the overview page updates automatically in response.
Result
Now I can easily sort my collection however I want and locate specific cards much quicker. My five most valuable cards are displayed on the dashboard for easy referencing. The total value of my collection updates itself. I never have to do the math by hand.
